Further cooperation agreements signed by KyrMedu Partner Universities

Further cooperation agreements signed by KyrMedu Partner Universities

16 April 2019 | by editor

In the frame of the project KyrMedu two more Laboratories have been established and integrated into a Cloud Laboratory which is shared by all Partner Universities and further Stakeholders.

“The Hub for storage and processing of medical data” has been installed on the basis of KSTU. “Cloud Laboratory for Medical Image Processing and Human Anatomy”  has been installed on the basis of KSUCTA. Both Laboratories are for a shared use by the Partner Universities of the project consortium. The Medical Laboratory at KSMA, which was established also for joint usage purposes and inaugurated in May 2018, has been extended and made virtually accessable for regional universities.

During the final Workshop at Talas State University on 11 April 2019, the rectors of the Partner Universities signed the relevant Cooperation Agreements and set up mutual collaboration for sustainable development. Medical Laboratory, Hub for Storage and Processing the Medical Data and Laboratory for Medical Images and Anatomy constitute the Cloud Lab that is approachable for students of project consortium and is extendable for further Medical Institutions to join and to share the data for academic purposes.

Hub for storage and processing the medical data

Goal of this Hub is to integrate the devises of diagnostic equipment, which are installed at Partner Universities, into a united network, and to establish a platform for a centralized storage of images and optimization of the process of their transmission and processing.

The System of "Hub of storage and processing of medical signals" is a set of hardware and software (computer networks, servers, computers, workstations, medical equipment, software) designed to perform the following tasks:

  • Connecting the medical devices to the PACS archive
  • Organization of storage and archiving of digital diagnostic images on the server which is bought for the shared use by all Partner Universities and installed at the basis of KSTU
  • Organization of the transfer of images on the network, both within between Partner Universities and the medical institution, and KSTU
  • Creation of computerized Specialist workplaces equipped with functions appropriate to their status

Cloud Laboratory for Medical Image Processing and Human Anatomy

The Cloud Laboratory for Medical Image Processing and Human Anatomy was created on the basis of KSUCTA for sharing universities-partners of the project consortium.

This Cloud Laboratory will be connected in the remote access mode to the integrated unified virtual laboratory, which connects all medical equipment and diagnostic and measuring devices installed in all partner universities of the KyrMedu project consortium.

The main task of Cloud Lab is to create a medical (ultrasound) image database for a single E-platform for centralized storage of medical images in the PACS archive and to optimize the process of their transfer and processing. And also, in each university an ECG is installed, the data from which is read and processed by the Cardio Point program. This program sends data to a single network for storing and exchanging data in Cloud mode. The ECG simulator is connected to the ECG for simulating cardiograms. This solution will cover all the tasks, from the method of picking up and receiving biomedical information, processing biosignals to electrical ones, then digitizing the signal and processing software for further archiving and data exchange.
